In a school format

• I am rarely in charge of the topics or skills taught, the pace, the exact topic, the way they are taught, hence the desire or curiosity to learn and develop skills is low. Often time the experience feels like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

• Tests make me feel nervous... as if my future depends on how I answer those questions, feeling like the perception of who I am is forever stuck in that place and moment in time.

• Even when the learning is more personalized, I still feel self-conscious if I don’t grasp the concept quickly, often affecting my honesty about how well I understand the subject.

Lately, I've become interested in strengthening skills like debating, critical thinking, and identifying logical fallacies. So I've been finding myself having a lot of fun assessing my skills and designing learning experiments with ChatGPT.

What I discovered

• I am intrinsically motivated to learn, which is a powerful driver for developing strong skills.

• I now test myself: what level am I now? What do I know and what do I not know? I am no longer judged by an external force that decides my future. I am in charge now.

• I am in full control, which makes the journey much more fun and empowering.

• There is no judgment or perception of judgment.

• I am going at my own pace, not forced by an external agenda.

• I can ask endless questions and practice as much as I need, eliminating the fear of appearing “dumb” or feeling the pressure to understand certain concepts as fast as my peers, for example.

• If I don't understand something, it can explain it to me in seemingly unlimited ways, until I get it.

• The setup is accessible and flexible, matching my learning rhythm and desired hours.

• It's affordable: $20/mo.

And unlike popular fears, the journey is not confined within the digital space. Once I've practiced enough in this environment, I can go share my findings with friends, practice with them, and I also start observing how I behave in different situations to try to identify how well I do.

I really feel like I have super-powers.

I can learn anything in this super fun and easy way, perfectly tailored to my needs. If only the high-school me saw me now…saying that learning is so fun and so approachable, especially skills like logic and engineering!!! And even enjoying tests!!
